Pricing

Free for people.
Free to start for services.

Lauther grows when private relationships grow — not when databases grow. So we charge for relationships a service actually uses, and nothing at all for being a person.

IF YOU'RE A PERSON

Everything. Free. Permanently.

€0 — no card, no trial, no per-device fee

Install it on your phone, your tablet and your next phone. Nothing here expires, and nothing here is a teaser for a plan you'll be nudged toward later.

Personal API & webhook use
What we will never put behind a paywall: account recovery, biometric protection, revoking a service, burning an identity, or the number of identities you hold. Those are the product, not an upsell — charging for them would mean charging you for your own safety.

Running a home lab? Personal API use is uncapped today. If we ever need a limit it will be generous — we plan to guarantee at least ~10,000 sends a month — and existing setups will hear from us first.

Pay for relationships you use — not rows in a table

Most platforms bill you for every account that ever existed. We count a person once in a month, and only when something actually happened between you.

Plain about where we are: paid plans are not purchasable yet, and nothing is metered today — every service currently runs on the Free tier. These are the prices and limits we intend to launch with, published early so nobody is surprised. And we're deliberately not publishing an enterprise feature matrix we haven't built — tell us what you need and we'll be straight about whether we have it.

What's an “active relationship”?

A person counts once in a calendar month when your service actually interacts with them. Someone who paired with you two years ago and hasn't been touched since costs you nothing — forever.

COUNTS ONCE PER MONTH

You sign them in
You send them a notification
You run a verification
They answer an action button

NEVER COUNTS

A dormant pairing sitting in your database
Someone who revoked you
Broadcast topic subscribers
Extra notifications to the same person that month

1,000 active relationships free. No credit card. That's a real service with real users, not a sandbox.

Straight answers

The questions we'd ask

Will the free personal tier ever start charging?

No. Receiving notifications, holding identities, recovery and revocation stay free. If we ever add a paid personal tier it will be convenience only — think longer history or custom sounds — and we'll say so plainly.

What happens if I exceed the free service tier?

We contact you, we don't cut you off mid-month. Early on we'd rather raise your limit than lose you — just ask.

Are these prices final?

They're our launch pricing and we're still measuring real costs per relationship. If anything moves, existing customers keep what they signed up for.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. The free tier needs an app, a token and about a minute. You'll never be asked for payment details to build or launch.

Is there an open-source / self-host option?

Not today. The protocol is plain documented HTTPS with no SDK lock-in, and opening up the client pieces is on the roadmap — privacy products should be inspectable.

We're a small project doing something good.

Say hello. Open source, non-profits and privacy tooling get a free Growth plan while we're finding our feet — we want the examples more than the money.
